Heather Gartshre Narrabri weather

PHOTO: A beautiful snap of Narrabri, taken by Heather Gartshre. Showers have been rolling in across the Gold Coast today and there’s more on the way tomorrow. They will extend south onto the northern New South Wales coast. It will be all fine for the Hunter and inland across the North West, but a rain band is set to move through later in the week, producing widespread falls on Thursday. It is likely that we will see some storms form as that system moves through. Read More »

kim jones weather

PHOTO: A unique shot of sunset through a wine glass, captured by Kim Jones. Only the far north east corner of New South Wales and south east Queensland will see a few showers across the weekend. Winds will again be out of the south west to south east. There will be plenty of sunshine across the North West, Hunter and Mid North Coast, with some very comfortable Spring temperatures. There’s plenty of swell for surfers along the New South Wales coast. Still little to nothing for the Gold Coast, but there should be an increase on Sunday. Boating will be a bit uncomfortable offshore due to the moderate swell and increased south-easterly winds in the afternoon. Read More »

PHOTO: A cracking shot of last night’s storm from Strzelecki lookout in Newcastle. Taken by Shane Williams. Over the weekend and during today we have seen storms flare up across the Northern New South Wales Ranges and North East. Tomorrow a trough is going to pass over and the ingredients look good to see increased storm activity across the broadcast region during the day, stretching from the Greater Hunter to the North West, Tablelands, North East and Gold Coast. There is plenty of heat and moisture content is moderate. The passing trough is the final ingredient. Yesterday was also the first time 40 degrees was recorded in Australia for the new season happening in the Kimberley of Western Australia. It is another sign that Spring is here, but be warned. A burst of cold air is headed our way, ready ... Read More »

Karynne Lawler weather Nobbys Beach

PHOTO: A stunning shot of Nobbys Beach, taken by Karynne Lawler. A southerly tracked up the coast triggering showers mostly across the Hunter this morning. Tomorrow the moist onshore winds will continue blowing in off the ocean. They will converge with the westerly winds sweeping across the Plains over the Great Dividing Range and we will see showers develop over the coast, eastern slopes and mountains. The trough causing the convergence will clear by Sunday taking the wet weather with it for a fine second half of the weekend along the coast and Hunter. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: SPRING HAS SPRUNG

weather-jenny-hill

The grass is on the move and the gardens are exploding with colour. The burst of warmth across the region has let us know Spring has arrived. A front is approaching and it will produce a bit of rain, maybe even a storm or two across the Hunter, North West and ranges. The system is moving quickly and there really isn’t that much in it. The sun is likely to return by the afternoon across the Hunter, western plains and North West itself. There’s not much cold air behind it just more sunshine and westerly winds. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: SPRING WARMTH

Spring is ready to warm up. Today we’ve seen the showers roll in across south east Queensland and north east New South Wales. Tomorrow a more northerly influence will dry up that shower activity, while grabbing hold of some warm air that has built up over central Australia and push it out of the way. It will be the warmest Spring day since the first for areas across the Hunter. The front will pass over Wednesday triggering some wet weather. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: COASTAL SHOWERS HEADED NORTH

weathervallabeach

PHOTO: Valla Beach, south of Coffs Harbour. The winds will ease but as they do they’ll move around to the south east and that will push in the cloud and showers which will extend north to the border and into south east Queensland across the weekend. Some of this shower activity is going to spill over the ranges and small patchy showers will develop across the North West and may reach the Plains. The low is now moving away from the coast and the monster swell will ease. Offshore boating will still be uncomfortable and finding quality waves won’t be easy due to the onshore winds. Read More »
