Police say the man offered the eight and four year old cousins a ride in his car, as they were riding push bikes along Keith Crompton Drive just after 7 o’clock. BROPHY CONQUERS GRAVITY-DEFYING STUNT

Here’s a stunt which could have easily taken a turn for the worst. A high wire artist successfully completed two walks across a 17-metre high circus tent at Tweed Heads this afternoon. It’s the first time Ashley Brophy attempted the challenge. There were a few tense moments when the wind picked up, but Ash says he wasn’t too fazed: “Life is short, no matter how long you live for, and I say do what you love.” The circus is in town until Australia Day. APPARENT CHILD ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT TWEED HEADS

An apparent child abduction attempt outside a Tweed Heads church has baffled police. A six-year-old boy told them he was approached by a man inside the grounds of Elevation Church on Caloola Drive around midday on Sunday. “It’s alleged that this person has grabbed hold of the six year old boy, has taken him in his arms approximately 80 metres from the front of the church there before letting the boy go.” Police say there weren’t any witnesses, and details of the man are scant. He’s been described as wearing dark clothing, and driving a black car with metallic paintwork. Read More »

MAJOR TWEED HEADS DEVELOPMENT GRANTED GREEN LIGHT

The Joint Regional Planning Panel has given the green light to a major development on the Tweed. The Panel met this morning to discuss the $20-million expansion of the Tweed City shopping centre on Minjungbal (MIN-JUNG-BULL) Drive. It will see the creation of a new entertainment precinct with playground, restaurants, and shops All up an extra 4,000 square metres will be added to the existing site. “We have made the determination, council will now issue the consent to the developer and it’ll be up to them who’ve obviously got to prepare detailed construction management plans and the like” Read More »
