Cold weather didn’t stop dedicated race-goers from attending the first day of the Taree Gold Cup Carnival. Small crowds gathered to watch the eight-race program. Colour of Love won the second race of the day, with Miss Eejay and Fascinant coming in a close second and third. But the big day is on Sunday, when the $60,000 Gold Cup will be run. TAREE BOAT ACCIDENT MEN IN STABLE CONDITION

Two men who were seriously injured while working at a boat building factory in Taree yesterday, are both in a stable condition. The men, aged 28 and 31 were injured when a boat mould fell, knocking them to the ground. One sustained a head injury, while the other suffered injuries to his neck. MANNING VALLEY PERSONALITY CRAIG HUTH DIES FOLLOWING A STROKE

The Manning Valley community is mourning the loss of breakfast radio personality, Craig Huth who passed away following a stroke on Monday. Known as the “Dice Man,” he was renowned for his charity work and started the MAX FM Christmas Train, which raises money for medical equipment at the Manning Base Hospital in Taree. A Hunter Valley taxi driver has endured a terrifying ordeal after allegedly being kidnapped and held at knife point by a passenger. The cabbie was forced into the passenger seat, and driven more than 200 kilometres to Taree, the drama only ending when police rolled out road spikes. Read More »
