A body – believed to be that of a missing Coopernook man – has been found in a river near Taree. Police made the discovery in Lansdowne River just after six o’clock last night. The 34-year-old went missing on Saturday. Initial investigations suggest the man’s death isn’t suspicious. Read More »

EMERGENCY SERVICES WORK TO FREE WOMAN TRAPPED IN CAR

Emergency services are working to free a 62-year-old woman from a car, following an accident south of Taree. The car was towing a caravan along the Pacific Highway near Seven Mile Road at around 11:40am, when the driver lost control and jack-knifed. The male driver sustained minor injuries, while the condition of his female passenger is not yet known. One northbound lane of the highway is closed and motorists are advised to expect significant delays. Read More »

A man has been charged with murder over an incident at Taree on the mid north coast, which left one woman dead, and another wounded. The 53-year-old faced court today – police allege he’d breached an AVO. Read More »

MAN CHARGED OVER TAREE MURDER

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Taree overnight. At around 7pm, police were called to a house on Stevenson Street following reports two women had been stabbed. Police found a 39-year-old woman with a stab wound to her abdomen outside. She was taken to Manning Base Hospital for treatment and later released. Meanwhile a 49-year-old woman was found dead inside the home. A 53-year-old man was charged with murder, wounding with intent and breaching an apprehended violence order. MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS OF DISABLED MEN

A 37-year-old man has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of three men with intellectual disabilities in the Taree area. The incidents allegedly took place since 2011. Following inquiries, detectives arrested a man in Taree yesterday. He’s facing a string of charges including seven counts of having sexual intercourse with a person with a cognitive impairment.
