WESTS BACK ON TRACK IN THE REAL NRL

A special tribute before kick off between Wests and Souths in the Real NRL, as both sides remembered former player Nathan Kelly, who lost his battle with cancer last month. The Rosellas settled quickly after kick off, Simon Williams crossing first for the home side. Williams was involved again as he set up Cal Richardson for Wests second. The Lions left edge defence was missing in action as Williams bagged a double. Matt Herman added his name to the try scorer’s list with a solid run from 20 out. SCORPIONS UNDEFEATED RUN CONTINUES IN THE REAL NRL

NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE Round 7 CESSNOCK 50 – CENTRAL NEWCASTLE 4 MAITLAND 36 – LAKES 16 MACQUARIE 32 – KURRI KURRI 4 Cessnock is beginning to build momentum in the Real NRL, hammering Central today. In other games, Maitland beat Lakes, Macquarie outclassed Kurri. Macquarie’s first try was one of the best this season. Blake Gallen set up Nathan Cantor inside the Scorpions half, a few passes later Chad Chandler grabbed the game’s first try. Danny Vaughan provided a special welcome to Toronto for Ben Jeffries. While Trent Hawes was lucky to receive a simple caution for this hit on George Ndaira. Despite some desperate attempts by Kurri, the Scorpions undefeated season continues. Read More »

SOUTHS AND WESTS BOTH SUFFER LOSSES IN THE REAL NRL

NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE Round 5 KURRI KURRI 26 – SOUTHS 6 CENTRAL NEWCASTLE 18 – WESTS 14 Two massive upsets in the Real NRL, with Souths and Wests both suffering their first losses in 2013. The Rosellas looked in ominous form as Jermaine Ale busted the Butcher Boys wide open. When Tom Lidden’s kick was snatched out of the air by Cal Richardson, Wests were in control. But Central’s halves put the Butcher Boys back in contention, as they raced home to win by four. At Townson Oval, the Bulldogs led 10-nil at half time but their second half was even more impressive. BIG SECOND HALF GETS WESTS HOME OVER SHARKS IN REAL NRL

Wests have produced a stunning second half to blitz Port Stephens 42-12 in the Real NRL. The Rosellas opened the scoring as Justin Smith went over untouched. Smith was involved again a few minutes later, setting up Jermaine Ale. When Mark Farrar and Jake Finn combined, Wests were in control. The Sharks provided some resistance late in the half, with Kelvin Lowe scoring a long range effort. But even a try to Gavin Quinn proved to be a mere consolation. Read More »

SOUTHS BEAT SHARKS TO STAY UNDEFEATED IN REAL NRL

NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE Round 2 KURRI 14 – LAKES 12 SOUTHS 32 – PORT STEPHENS 16 To Newcastle Rugby League and Kurri has bounced back, from a first round loss to beat Lakes by two, while Souths have made it two wins from two, beating Port Stephens 32-16. The Sharks went close to opening the scoring when Willie Poleo was driven out. Five eighth Chris Marlborough helped to put Souths in front, selling the dummy before teeing up Ryan Pywell. The home side hit back when David Oaks produced a perfect grubber, as Grant Clacherty pounced. The Sharks went close again when Bryce Jones was held up. But it was the Lions who proved too strong, Marlborough again involved to hand Pywell a double. Read More »

WESTS CLAIM THE HONOURS IN THE REAL NRL GRAND FINAL REMATCH
