CESSNOCK BEATS WESTS TO STAY IN THE REAL NRL FINALS RACE

Macquarie has jumped to second in the Real NRL thanks to a two point win over Souths. The Butcher Boys leapfrogged Maitland into fourth, Cessnock took fifth with a win over Wests. The defending champion’s didn’t look like themselves early on, bombing two tries close to Cessnock’s line. In contrast, the Goannas looked sharp in attack, Chris Adams set up Kori Barber. Returning from suspension, Riley Brown had a hand in the next try, teeing up Jacob McKendry. Brown then combined with Greg White .. his kick fell kindly for Chris Pyne, as Cessnock moved back into finals contention. WESTS EDGE CLOSER TO THE REAL NRL TITLE

Wests are almost within reach of the Real NRL minor premiership, thanks to a 48 to 8 win over Lakes. The Rosellas started well, a Brad Murray bomb was cleaned up by Ryan Lamb for the first try. Lakes hit back with a try to forward Dylan Hartin, who found plenty of space up the middle. When a Jake Hawkins’ kick was snatched out of the air, the Seagulls were in front. In the Real NRL Central has heaped more pain on Souths, while Wests just edged out Lakes. Fresh from a win over the Lions, Lakes started well, a Danny Kerr kick fell kindly for Dylan Hartin. James Woolford responded for Wests with a dart from dummy half. Woolford was involved again as he set up Simon Williams out wide.
