WEATHER: MUCH NEEDED RAIN ON THE WAY

KAILA-DARCY-WEATHER

PHOTO: Thanks to Kaila Darcy for this amazing snap of last night’s storm in Newcastle. Storms have been a real feature over the last couple of days and there are more to come. A passing front and associated trough is set to trigger widespread rain and storms that should see most of the region receive some much needed wet weather. That approaching system helped fire up more storms across the Hunter and North West today. Tomorrow the cloud will increase and temperatures will finally drop after record breaking November heat. The slow moving system will contract to north east New South Wales during tomorrow, before arriving at the Gold Coast on Wednesday. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: RAIN!

File Image

A rain band is making its way across New South Wales and will hit the region tomorrow. Cloud will increase and rain will fall with storms possible, especially in the afternoon on the ranges and to the north. The system won’t hang around for long clearing by the weekend, but by then most locations will have received something. Falls wont be too impressive, but Spring rain is desperately needed inland. WEATHER UPDATE: HOT BEFORE THE RAIN

weathertelarahcentralcoast

Tomorrow is going to get very warm as the northerly winds kick in ahead of an approaching rain bearing system. Northerly winds will build and that will help drive up the temperature across the broadcast region. Cloud will increase to the west at the end of the day and the rain will start to move in on Thursday with storms likely. The system will move through quickly, clearing from most of the region by Friday night. Read More »

PHOTO: A beautiful snap of Narrabri, taken by Heather Gartshre. Showers have been rolling in across the Gold Coast today and there’s more on the way tomorrow. They will extend south onto the northern New South Wales coast. It will be all fine for the Hunter and inland across the North West, but a rain band is set to move through later in the week, producing widespread falls on Thursday. It is likely that we will see some storms form as that system moves through. Read More »

The region has recorded 150-millimetres of rain in the last fortnight. Kempsey Shire Council says it will continue to monitor the region’s water supply, and may need to introduce restrictions again in Summer. (No Audio) Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: LOW READY TO INTENSIFY

There is an upper level cold pool over north west NSW that is going to link up with the surface low sitting off the northern NSW coast. As the two merge the rain will intensify, along with the winds and large seas and swell. There is still the chance of flooding over the northern NSW coast. The danger area will be in between Coffs Harbour and the QLD border. The good news is the rain has been pushing inland over the north west and there should be more in the coming days. Read More »

File Image

The best rain in at least four months is on the way. The coastal showers along with the cold southerly winds and cloudy skies will continue all week. The moist onshore winds are going to help feed a deepening trough over western QLD. This system will form into a low and dump widespread rain across the region in the NW over the weekend. Falls should be solid. We’ll keep checking in with this developing system as we move through the week. Read More »
