DICKY BEACH LIFESAVER NAMED SUMMER SURF GIRL

Surf lifesaver Caitlin Knight can’t stop smiling, after being named the 2014 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl. Caitlin raised more than $100,000 for the Dicky Beach Surf Club, and was last night presented with her title, alongside Broadbeach local and runner-up, Olivia Wilson… And Personality Award winner Morgan Marrinon from Pacific Surf Club. “We’ve done what we wanted to do in our clubs, and we’ve done our clubs proud. FIREBIRDS SETTLE IN ON THE COAST

Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate welcomed some of the Queensland Firebirds to the Coast today ahead of the team’s two games which will be held here next month. The Firebirds have fought back from a sluggish start to the season to be well in contention. “Yeah, it was a slow start, but we’re building as a team and it’s really showing in our games. We’re just getting better and better, so hopefully by the end of the season, we’re good together and we make that grand final and we win.” The Firebirds play the Tactix on May 4 before returning to the coast to take on the Central Pulse on May 24. FEDERAL POLICE ARREST FUGITIVES IN KINGSCLIFF

A fugitive couple- wanted by the Australian Federal Police has been found this morning at a home in Kingscliff. Police allege, Anthony Broad breached parole by moving from Queensland. His girlfriend Rochelle Primo was arrested on outstanding warrants. The pair has been on the run since January. A large quantity of drugs was also seized from the home. Broad faced court today and has been remanded in custody… Ms Primo will front court tomorrow. Read More »
