TWO CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENCES

A man and a woman from Holmesville have been charged with domestic violence offences, after allegedly failing to provide health care to an elderly man. Following a report to the Elder Abuse Hotline, police and medical professionals went to a home in George Street in December last year. They found an 80-year-old man to be underweight and undernourished. He also hadn’t received treatment for diabetes and prostate cancer since January 2014. A 46-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were charged this week, and will face Toronto Local Court on March 25. The elderly man is now caring for himself with the assistance of aged care services. CCTV IMAGES RELEASED OF ARMED ROBBERY

Police have released CCTV images in a bid to find those responsible for an armed robbery in Port Stephens earlier this year. On Januray 29, a man weilding an axe entered a bottle shop on Cook Parade at Lemon Tree Passage. He dragged the 34-year-old employee by her arm into the office and demanded money from the safe. A second man, armed with a knife, then forced her to open the cash register. Both fled on foot. Anyone with information should contact Port Stephens police. Read More »

POLICE BUST CROSS-BORDER DRUG RACKET

Gold Coast Police say they’ve helped bust a lucrative cross-border drug-racket. Overnight, three men were pulled over at Tugun, allegedly with crystal meth hidden in their car. DOZENS OF CANNABIS PLANTS SEIZED FROM MID NORTH COAST PROPERTY

Police have seized cannabis worth more than $270,000 from a property, north of Taree on the Mid North Coast. Around 10am yesterday, officers searched a home at Kundle Kundle. It’s alleged 135 cannabis plants were found growing on the property, while police also claim to have found 25 grams of dried cannabis leaf at the home. A 50-year-old man is facing drug cultivation and possession charges. He’s been granted conditional bail and will face Taree Local Court on March 24. Read More »

DIVERS JOIN THE SEARCH FOR WILLIAM TYRRELL

Police divers and the dog squad have arrived on the Mid North Coast for the final day of the search for missing three-year-old William Tyrrell. Officers are focusing their efforts near Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point Road at Bonny Hills. Since Monday, police have been scouring dense bushland in the area, looking for any trace of the little boy. The search was instigated following new information from the public. William was last seen six months ago at his grandmother’s home in Kendall. Police will address the media at 2pm. Read More »

FOUR INJURED IN RAYMOND TERRACE CRASH

Four people have been injured in a car crash at Raymond Terrace overnight. At around midnight, a white Toyota Camry crashed into a pole on Parkway Avenue. Four people, including two men, a woman and a teenage girl, were taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment. A 53-year-old man is reportedly in a critical condition, while the 25-year-old driver will undergo mandatory blood and urine testing. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. MAN’S BODY FOUND AT BAR BEACH

The body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, has been found at Bar Beach in Newcastle this morning. Police made the discovery at around 6am and say his death is not being treated as suspicious. FATAL STABBING IN CESSNOCK

A 48-year-old man has died after being stabbed at Cessnock this morning. Police were called to a home on Edgeworth Street at around 1am, where they found the man with a number of wounds. Officers started CPR, but he died at the scene. Police say a short time later, a car lost control and rolled into the crime scene they’d established. They found a 50-year-old man with multiple wounds. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition. Police believe the two incidents are linked. Read More »

POLICE RAMMED AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT

Police on the Far North Coast were involved in a high-speed pursuit overnight, after discovering a stolen Mitsubishi sedan in Bangalow at around 12.30am. The pursuit lasted almost an hour; before coming to a dangerous end in Whian Whian when a police vehicle was rammed. A second car was stolen this morning. “If they do see that stolen vehicle we’d ask them to call triple zero or their local police but do not approach that vehicle.” Locals are being asked to look out for a MITSUBISHI SEDAN with the number plate YLV729; as well as a SILVER HYUNDAI SANTA-FE BV48QP.
