SUSPECT DEVICE MADE TO LOOK THREATENING

Police say they’re concerned by a device that was left at Charlestown bus stop this afternoon. Frederick Street was closed by police and a 100 metre exclusion zone set up outside Charlestown Square after a someone noticed the device around 1.30. Police say the crudely made package was made to look threatening. It was carried to nearby Charlestown Oval where it was X-rayed and deemed safe. Read More »

MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD GROOMING

Police have charged a 51-year-old man at Gloucester with child grooming after police posed as a teenager on-line. Police yesterday executed a search warrant at the man’s home, after an undercover police officer posed as a 14-year-old girl and engaged in online conversations with the man. It’s alleged the conversations were sexually explicit, and that they organised to meet. He was charged with using a carriage service to procure a person under 16 and use of a carriage service to groom a person under 16. He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Taree Local Court in May. Read More »

10 ARRESTED IN COFFS HARBOUR RAIDS

Police say the North Coast headquarters of the Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle Gang has been dismantled with the arrest of 10 alleged members. Officers raided 11 homes this morning in Coffs Harbour Toormina, Sawtell and Middle Boambee, as well as the Lone Wolf clubhouse in Toormina. Read More »

MOTORCYCLIST FOUND DEAD IN CENTRAL HUNTER

UPDATED: Police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old motorcyclist who was found on the side of the road at Laguna in the Central Hunter region this morning. At around 8:15 this morning police were called to Wollombi Road near Murrrays Run Road following reports of the crash. It’s believed the man was riding on Wollombi Road when he lost control on a right-hand bend, left the road and crashed into a tree. His body was found a short distance away. Police will prepare a report for the coroner. Read More »

POLICEMAN SHOT DEAD

A 41-year-old police officer has been shot dead outside a block of flats in West Tamworth this morning. Paramedics treated the officer but he died a short time later. Another man was injured and is receiving emergency treatment while under police guard. The police have also arrested another man who was seen leaving the flats immediately after the shooting.     Read More »
