KNIGHTS SKIPPER CHASES ALLEGED INTRUDERS FROM HOME

Newcastle Knights skipper Kurt Gidley says he and his family have been left shaken, after an alleged break-in at their Merewether home. The father-of-two had just arrived home on Saturday night after dinner, when three teens allegedly entered his home. Gidley chased the trio and managed to tackle one of the boys before police arrived. That boy later returned to Gidley’s home with his father and apologised. A 16-year-old has been charged and will face court on January 12. More charges are expected to be laid. Read More »

FORMER KNIGHT SIGNS WITH MANLY

Former Knights player Willie Mason has signed with Manly for the 2015 NRL season. It comes after Mason’s contract was not renewed by Newcastle this year. It will most likely be the 36-year-old’s last season of a long career. The Sea Eagles have also announced Warriors star Feleti Mateo will join the squad, while stalwart Anthony Watmough has been released to join cross town rival Parramatta. Read More »

McKINNON ARRIVES ON GOLD COAST FOR NEXT STAGE OF REHAB

Injured Newcastle Knight Alex McKinnon has arrived on the Gold Coast for treatment with neuroscientist, Kenneth Ware. McKinnon has vowed to walk again, after a horror tackle in March that left him with spinal damage. Ware spoke with reporters back in April about his treatment method. “It’s an exercise based program, basically, that allows us to sense into the human nervous system¬† to see where there’s discrepancy’s about how this person is interacting with their environment.” The treatment is credited with rehabilitating another former footballer, John Maclean, allowing him to walk again after 25 years in a wheelchair. YOUNG KNIGHTS STAR NAMED IN KANGAROOS

With just seven NRL games under his belt, Newcastle’s Sione Mata’utia is set to become the youngest test player in Australian rugby league history. The 18-year-old has been named in the Kangaroos squad, making him the least experienced player in more than half a century to earn a call-up. Fellow Knight Beau Scott has also been selected. The Four Nations tournament opens on October 25, which will see Australia take on New Zealand in Brisbane. Read More »
