COWBOYS STICKING TO THEIR GUNS AHEAD OF CLASH WITH KNIGHTS

KNIGHTS_V_COWBOYS

The Cowboys aren’t shying away from hooker Jake Granville’s threats to take revenge against the Knights. The Cowboys believe the Knights were too rough in their treatment of Johnathan Thurston in round two. “We owe them one like Jake said, round two game won’t go unnoticed and we’ll definitely make a statement when we play on Saturday.” “We’ll be going down there to even that up and hopefully get one back on them and keep our roll going.” Beau Scott was reported for two hits on Thurston, but escaped suspension. The Knights say Scott won’t return from an ankle injury for another two weeks. The Cowboys are hoping he plays on Saturday. “Either way, if he’s playing or not we’re definitely going to give it to him.” Read More »

BEAU SCOTT RELEASED FROM KNIGHTS, TO JOIN EELS

Beau-Scott-Knights

Kangaroos back-rower Beau Scott will be released from the final two years of his contract with the Newcastle Knights, on compassionate grounds. It means he’s free to officially sign a three year deal with Parramatta. He joined the Knights in 2013, after a move from St George, and has been one of the club’s most consistent players. “We wish Beau the very best for his future, both personally and professionally, and look forward to him returning to the field and leading our team throughout the remainder of this season,” CEO Matt Gidley said. The 30-year-old, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, said it was a difficult decision, but one he made for his family. “Our family situation changed significantly following our move to Newcastle,” Scott said. “For this reason alone we have decided it is in the best ... KNIGHTS WON’T LET TITANS OFF THE HOOK

KNIGHTS_TITANS

Titans players have returned to training for the first time since being stood down on drugs charges. The Knights know they’ll provide a major boost to a Gold Coast side that’s lost its opening two games. Despite criticism of Newcastle’s style so far this season, the Knights’ big men won’t be showing the Titans’ forwards any mercy. “That’s one of our bases I guess, being a strong aggressive pack, I think we’ve showed that and we’ll keep trying to build on it and keep it in our repertoire.” Off-season recruit Jack Stockwell has made a solid start to his time at the Knights, coming off the bench in rounds one and two. “Always room for improvement but I felt I haven’t gone too badly so Stoney keeps putting there so it’s a good thing.” Read More »

KURT GIDLEY HITS BACK AT KNIGHTS CRITICISM

KNIGHTS_TITANS

Knights skipper Kurt Gidley says criticism of Newcastle’s tactics against North Queensland won’t affect how they play. “Johnathan Thurston has played at the highest level, been targeted in Origin, any team goes out there putting pressure on the other team’s most important players. We’ll continue to do that.” The self-confessed extreme sports fan today joined his teammates for a look at the Nitro Circus performers, who’ll take centre stage at Hunter Stadium on Saturday. The same day, the Knights will look to overcome a Titans side boosted by Origin stars, Greg Bird and Dave Taylor, who had been stood down following drug charges. “It’s been a tough month for them. They’ll be looking to have big games themselves.” Read More »
