CLAYTON ZANE SPEAKS ABOUT HIS SACKING FROM THE JETS

Former assistant coach at the Newcastle Jets, Clayton Zane, says he was blindsided by the club’s decision to sack him yesterday. Speaking to NBN News today, Zane says he’s very disappointed in the decision and believes there’ll be more sackings in the coming days. Yesterday saw the release of goalkeeper mentor Neil Young, trainer Andrew Packer, as well as five players – David Carney, Billy Celeski, Joel Griffiths, Kew Jaliens and Adrian Madaschi. Jets owner, Nathan Tinkler, cited a change in the club culture behind the decision. Three coaching staff have been sacked from the Newcastle Jets this afternoon. Assistant coach Clayton Zane, goal-keeping coach Neil Young and the club’s trainer Andrew Packer have lost their jobs. It comes amid an escalating crisis at the club, with owner Nathan Tinkler under strict deadlines to appoint a new chairman and CEO, before Football Federation Australia intervenes. FFA SAYS TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR NATHAN TINKLER

Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop says time is running out for Newcastle Jets owner, Nathan Tinkler. NBN News caught up with Gallop ahead of the Soccceroos Asian Cup clash in Newcastle. Gallop says Tinkler must meet certain guidelines quickly, including appointing a new chairman and club CEO, or the sport’s governing body will be forced to intervene. “There’s obviously serious concerns there and I guess the weekend result will add a layer of concern. We’ve got some timelines in place, they’re pretty imminent. There’s obviously some fairly significant debts that need to be cleared and the deadlines for that are fast approaching,” said Gallop.
