WEATHER UPDATE: SPRING HAS SPRUNG

weather-jenny-hill

The grass is on the move and the gardens are exploding with colour. The burst of warmth across the region has let us know Spring has arrived. A front is approaching and it will produce a bit of rain, maybe even a storm or two across the Hunter, North West and ranges. The system is moving quickly and there really isn’t that much in it. The sun is likely to return by the afternoon across the Hunter, western plains and North West itself. There’s not much cold air behind it just more sunshine and westerly winds. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: SPRING WARMTH

Spring is ready to warm up. Today we’ve seen the showers roll in across south east Queensland and north east New South Wales. Tomorrow a more northerly influence will dry up that shower activity, while grabbing hold of some warm air that has built up over central Australia and push it out of the way. It will be the warmest Spring day since the first for areas across the Hunter. The front will pass over Wednesday triggering some wet weather. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: COASTAL SHOWERS HEADED NORTH

weathervallabeach

PHOTO: Valla Beach, south of Coffs Harbour. The winds will ease but as they do they’ll move around to the south east and that will push in the cloud and showers which will extend north to the border and into south east Queensland across the weekend. Some of this shower activity is going to spill over the ranges and small patchy showers will develop across the North West and may reach the Plains. The low is now moving away from the coast and the monster swell will ease. Offshore boating will still be uncomfortable and finding quality waves won’t be easy due to the onshore winds. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: SHOWERS RETURNING

weatherrain

The strong southerly winds affecting the Hunter and Mid North Coast are going to move to the SE and back off as the low moves away from the coast. This is going to help drive in cloud and patchy shower activity which will extend further north, reaching SE Queensland across the weekend. A few patchy showers will also reach the North West. The large swell will ease in the coming days, but wave quality will be low as the winds moves more onshore. Read More »

WEATHER UPDATE: WEEKEND RAIN

Mick Lynch weather Nords Wharf

PHOTO: A moody sky at Nords Wharf, captured by Mick Lynch. It should be the best rain event of the year for eastern Australia. The rain will be widespread with most locations receiving moderate to heavy falls. The moist onshore winds are still feeding the forming low, now over SA, with the associated trough stretching back to Central QLD. The cloud will continue to increase and the rain band will dive down across NSW and into SA. Periods of rain, heavy at times, will spread across the NW, Northern Ranges and NE NSW. The system will then move across the entire region as we enter Sunday. By Monday an east coast low will form to the SE so the winds will move from the north to the west and follow up showers will come down across the western slopes as ... Read More »
