CENTRAL COAST MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 21-year-old Central Coast man has today been charged with murdering a man whose body was found in bushland near Bulahdelah last year. 24-year-old Jacob Munro was reported missing from Schofields in Sydney’s west last July. His body was discovered by police in a bush grave in the Bulahdelah State Forest in December. Just after 7am today, detectives attched to Strike Force Zion arrested the man at his Lake Munmorah home and later charged hime with murder. A 68-year-old man from the New England region has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact. He’ll face Penrith Local Court next week. Read More »

POLICE SCOUR BUSHLAND AS PART OF INVESTIGATION INTO MISSING MAN

Police are searching bushland near Magenta on the Central Coast, as part of their investigation into a man who’s been missing for almost two decades. 61-year-old Ronald Penn was last seen at his Bateau Bay home on October 12, 1995. Tuggerah Lakes detectives joined specialist units in scouring bushland today, with the search to recommence at 8am tomorrow. In October last year, police charged a 43-year-old Killarney Vale man with being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Mr Penn. He remains in custody and will face Gosford Local Court later this month. Police are asking anyone with information into Mr Penn’s disappearance to contact Crime Stoppers. Read More »

MAN CHARGED OVER MURDER OF PREGNANT WOMAN

A man has been charged over the brutal murder of a pregnant woman on the Gold Coast. The 35-year-old Surfers Paradise man is accused of killing the woman with a tomahawk during a domestic dispute at Varsity Lakes yesterday afternoon. Emergency services found the woman with horrific head injuries. She was rushed to hospital, but died soon after. The man has been remanded in custody and will reappear at the Southport Magistrates Court in May. Read More »

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO WEST GOSFORD MURDER

Police have released an image of a vehicle, believed to have been used in the murder of a Central Coast man last year. 29-year-old Laurie Starling was shot out the front of his West Gosford business on July 24. Detectives believe the car is a silver or grey 2013 model Toyota Corolla hatchback. It was captured on CCTV travelling towards Narara, before heading to Sydney soon after Mr Starling was murdered. Police say at least three men of Caucasian appearance and aged in their late 20s to early 30s were involved in the shooting. “We have reason to believe the men are members of an outlaw motorcycle gang and are likely from Sydney,” said Detective Inspector Grant Taylor. “Although we already have some very strong leads, I believe the release of this image will bring us closer to finding those ... MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN LISMORE

A man has been charged with murder, following an incident in Uralba Street in Lismore late last year. On Sunday December 21, a 56-year-old man was airlifted to Brisbane with a fractured skull, arm and shoulder, as well as a stab wound to his back. The man died in hospital on January 2. Yesterday police added the charge of murder to a 27-year-old man, who’s already in custody over the incident. He’s due to reappear in Lismore Local Court on February 17. Read More »

NURSE FACES COURT CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 27-year-old nurse from Newcastle has faced court charged with two counts or murder and another of attempted murder, after the deaths of two elderly nursing home residents. Garry Davis of Redhead was arrested at his home by detectives from Strike Force Correa this morning and taken to Newcastle police station where he was charged. In October 2013, Ryan Kelly and Gwen Fowler died from a suspected insulin overdose at Wallsend’s Summitcare. A 91-year-old woman was also hospitalised with insulin poisoning, but survived. Davis was supported by family during a very brief court appearance on Wednesday afternoon. He didn’t apply for bail and will reappear in court on Friday. Read More »
