Flood water in Coffs Harbour

Severe storms caused flash flooding at Coffs Harbour this afternoon. Nasty storms and heavy down pours also affected Taree and the Manning. It was all connected to a fresh southerly that has been making its way up the coast. This southerly is finally strong enough to clear some of the heat from the North West, making for a comfortable, mostly sunny weekend inland. On the eastern side of the divide another burst of showers will track up the North Coast tomorrow. Another fresh burst of southerly winds will reach Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, triggering more shower activity. There is some new swell on the way, southern point breaks will be the pick. Police have renewed their appeal for information into a suspicious house fire at South Grafton in 2012. The home in Peppermint Place was destroyed by fire on October 17. The owners were away at the time and were notified by family and friends. Anyone with information should contact Coffs-Clarence detectives. Read More »

FLASH FLOODING IN COFFS HARBOUR

Flood water in Coffs Harbour

A severe thunderstorm has left several homes, businesses and cars flooded in Coffs Harbour. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the area copped 49-millimetres of rain between 12 and 1pm this afternoon. Wind gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour were also recorded at Coffs Harbour airport. The State Emergency Service is urging people to avoid driving through flood waters. DOZENS OF CANNABIS PLANTS SEIZED FROM MID NORTH COAST PROPERTY

Police have seized cannabis worth more than $270,000 from a property, north of Taree on the Mid North Coast. Around 10am yesterday, officers searched a home at Kundle Kundle. It’s alleged 135 cannabis plants were found growing on the property, while police also claim to have found 25 grams of dried cannabis leaf at the home. A 50-year-old man is facing drug cultivation and possession charges. He’s been granted conditional bail and will face Taree Local Court on March 24. Read More »

Police divers and the dog squad have arrived on the Mid North Coast for the final day of the search for missing three-year-old William Tyrrell. Officers are focusing their efforts near Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point Road at Bonny Hills. Since Monday, police have been scouring dense bushland in the area, looking for any trace of the little boy. The search was instigated following new information from the public. William was last seen six months ago at his grandmother’s home in Kendall. Police will address the media at 2pm. Read More »

SEARCH CONTINUES FOR WILLIAM TYRRELL

Police have moved deeper into dense bushland near Bonny Hills as part of their search for three-year-old William Tyrrell. Around 30 officers will scour an area near Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point trail today, looking for any sign of the toddler. It’s expected they’ll continue searching until tomorrow afternoon. Detectives have also briefly returned to a Bonny Hills home, which was searched in January, but resident William Spedding had already left for work. Police have stressed he is a person of interest, but not a suspect, and that they’re following other lines of inquiry. Mr Spedding has denied any involvement in William’s disappearance. The little boy was last seen on September 12 at his grandmother’s home in Kendall. Read More »

POLICE SCOUR BUSHLAND IN SEARCH FOR WILLIAM TYRRELL

Police are scouring bushland on the Mid North Coast as part of their investigation into missing three-year-old William Tyrrell. The search, which was instigated following new information from the public, is taking place near Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point Road, between Bonny Hills and Lake Cathie. Detective Superintendent Michael Willing said about 30 officers are involved, with the search expected to last several days. “At this point it’ll be a search by hand, a line search. “The information is only general in nature – we are searching, looking for anything, any evidence,” he said. On Sunday, New South Wales Crime Stoppers appealed to 26 countries to help find the toddler, who went missing from his grandmother’s Kendall home on September 12 last year.
