SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR NORTH COAST

The Bureau of Meterology has released a severe weather warning for heavy rain in the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast. It says a low pressure system is deepening in the Coral Sea, with an associated rain band expected to extend over the north-east of the state. Rain is expected to get heavier over the lower mid north coast this afternoon, and extend to the north during the night. It’s likely to be steady rain, with intermittent heavy bursts. SURFER BITTEN BY SHARK ON MID NORTH COAST

PHOTO: Attacked, Mike Porter.  A 40-year-old mid north coast surf-shop owner has been bitten on the foot by a shark while taking photos of friends in the surf yesterday afternoon. Doctors believe a bull shark was responsible for attacking Mike Porter in chest deep water off Lighthouse Beach at Port Macquarie. Mr Porter yelled to a nearby surfer who helped him get to shore, where off-duty surf club members bandaged the bloody bite wounds on his foot. We’ll have more details tonight at 6. Read More »
