MAN CHARGED WITH 27 OFFENCES

A man has been charged with 27 offences following a series of alleged break and enters in the Lake Macquarie area. Detectives attended a home at Windale yesterday morning, where they allegedly found the 23-year-old hiding in the roof. He was taken to Charlestown Police Station and charged with a string of offences including aggravated break and enter, goods in custody and larceny. The man is due to face Newcastle Local Court today. Read More »

MAN DRESSED AS ‘CAT BURGLAR’ ROBS LAKE MACQUARIE SUPERMARKET

Police are appealing for information, following the armed robbery of a Lake Macquarie supermarket by a man dressed as a ‘cat burglar’. Last Monday night a man, wearing a black lyra jumpsuit, threatened two employees with a knife at the Coles supermarket at Mount Hutton. He fled a short time later with some cash. THREE YOUTHS IN CUSTODY AFTER PURSUIT

Three youths have been arrested on the Central Coast, following a police operation that extended to Lake Macquarie. Police attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla at Warners Bay at around 2pm, and initiated a pursuit which was later called off. The car was spotted south at Berkeley Vale, and another pursuit – involving Polair – ended at Woy Woy with the arrest of three teens, who are assisting police with their inquiries. GREAT WHITE SHARK DISRUPTS SAILING RACES

More vision has emerged of a Great White shark in Lake Macquarie. The shark was seen on Saturday morning in Belmont Bay, forcing the cancellation of the Belmont 16-footers junior sailing races. MAN WANTED IN RELATION TO HIT AND RUN

Police are appealing for the public’s help to find 27-year-old Joshua Uicich, who’s wanted in relation to a hit and run at Lake Macquarie. Convicted drug dealer and fraudster Trevor Fing lost an arm and leg in the June 3 crash at Cams Wharf. Uicich is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170-centimetres, with a thin build and brown hair. He may also have a beard or moustache. DRUGS AND CASH ALLEGEDLY SEIZED IN CAR

A 22-year-old man has been charged with supplying prohibited drugs after police searched his car at Boolaroo. Just before 3pm yesterday, the man allegedly failed to give way to traffic while driving on Main Road and was pulled over by police. It’s alleged they found methylamphetamine and cash in his car. The man’s been granted conditional bail and will face Toronto Local Court on December 17. Read More »

LIGHTNING STRIKE SPARKS BOAT FIRE

A small sailing boat was destroyed when it was struck by lightning during last night’s storm at Lake Macquarie. The boat was moored about 50-metres offshore at Yarrawonga Park near Bonnells Bay when it was struck, sparking a fire. The Rural Fire Service arrived at around 8:30pm to find the mast and sails well alight. The owner of the boat says the incident was extremely unlucky and he won’t be rushing to buy a new one. TODDLER BITTEN BY DOG AT NORTH BELMONT

A toddler will undergo surgery at John Hunter Hospital today, after she was bitten by a dog at Lake Macquarie. The 2-year-old girl was with her parents in the backyard of a friend’s home at North Belmont when she was bitten at around six o’clock yesterday. She suffered injuries to her eye, as well as cuts to her forehead and right arm. Police say the dog has been secured and council rangers are assisting them with their inquiries. Read More »
