The Knights have decided to accept a two-match ban for Korbin Sims which starts with Saturday’s clash against the Panthers at Hunter Stadium. This afternoon, coach Rick Stone named David Fa’alogo as his replacement in the front row, with Pat Vaivai and Tyler Randell moving onto the bench. Knights skipper Kurt Gidley says criticism of Newcastle’s tactics against North Queensland won’t affect how they play. “Johnathan Thurston has played at the highest level, been targeted in Origin, any team goes out there putting pressure on the other team’s most important players. We’ll continue to do that.” The self-confessed extreme sports fan today joined his teammates for a look at the Nitro Circus performers, who’ll take centre stage at Hunter Stadium on Saturday. KNIGHTS NAME AUCKLAND NINES SQUAD

The Newcastle Knights have announced an 18-man squad for the Auckland Nines, with Jarrod Mullens named as captain. The Mata’utia brothers have all been selected, along with under 20s captain Danny Levi. For 10 of the team members, including Nathan Ross, Paterika Vaivai and Tyler Randell, it will be the first time they’ve played the Nines format.
