The Jets’ Taylor Regan isn’t sure whether he’ll play in defence or midfield this season, but he is confident he’s the fittest he’s ever been. The Dudley-Redhead junior joined his international teammates and surfing legend Mark Richards at NBN today, to shoot the club’s new promotional video. Regan says the likes of Marcos Flores and Jeronimo are vital to the Jets’ success. “I don’t think him and Marcos have a lot to prove, I think Australia has seen they’re fantastic footballers. You add that to Jonny Steele, who’s been in America for years. He epitomises Newcastle, his attitude and his work rate. He’s ruthless and he wants to win.” (AUDIO IN PARTS) Read More »

JETS

The Jets preseason has taken another bizarre twist, with striker Joel Griffiths suffering an injury in his kitchen, which is likely to rule him out of tomorrow’s clash with the Young Socceroos at Gosford. “I just popped something in my hip and yeah I was getting the milk. I’m not even lying that’s the funny thing.” Griffiths was a special guest at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital today, as the Jets launched a program which will see players visit sick kids more often. Now in remission from leukaemia, Dudley Redhead junior Jacob Cooper received a gold membership. “How do think the Jets will go this season? They’re going to just beat everyone.” Read More »

Newcastle Jets player Craig Goodwin will return to his home state of South Australia, with the club agreeing to release him from his contract. He was due to play for the Jets until the end of the 2015/16 A-league season, but the mutual termination of the contract means the 22-year-old can now join Adelaide United on a two-year deal. “Craig has been a great servant of the Newcastle Jets and we thank him for his efforts during his time at the Club,” said Head Coach Phil Stubbin. “We’ve got the luxury of having a number of quality players on that left-hand side and after adding everything up, we made a calculated decision to allow Craig to leave.” Goodwin has thanked the club and its members for their support. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the past two seasons at the Jets and I’d ...
