FOUR JETS WON’T BE RE-SIGNED NEXT SEASON

Four Newcastle Jets players have today been informed they will not be re-signed for the 2015-16 A-league season. Among the surprise exits is Hunter-bred junior Taylor Regan, along with utility Sam Gallagher, goalkeeper John Solari and James Virgili. 26-year-old Regan has played his entire career with the Jets, starting in the club’s National Youth League team. Meanwhile Max Burgess remains in discussions with the club, while Equadorian attacker Edson Montano is under consideration by management. It’s also negotiating to retain Enver Alivodic. “Today the coaching staff had to deliver some tough decisions to some great people. We certainly wish each of the guys that are leaving the club the very best in their respective futures,” said coach Phil Stubbins. Read More »

Zenon Caravella says he’s not surprised, but he is disappointed, after being told by the Jets he won’t be re-signed. The 32-year-old believes he fell out of favour with coach Phil Stubbins after speaking out against the club’s mid-season purge. JETS REACH MUTUAL TERMINATION AGREEMENT WITH GRIFFITHS

The Newcastle Jets have reached a mutual termination agreement with former attacker Joel Griffiths. Griffiths was one of five players sacked from the club last month. New CEO Mitchell Murphy has thanked Griffiths for his contribution and says the club is working behind the scenes with David Carney, Billy Celeski and Adrian Madaschi, as well as the PFA, to resolve each player’s situation. Meanwhile earlier today the Jets announced they had withdrawn a code of conduct breach against David Carney.
