Police are treating a fire that destroyed a Milton Barnett Street home in West Kempsey this morning, as suspicious. Three fire crews responded to the blaze just before 6-o’clock, to find the home engulfed in flames. The residents were not home at the time. HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE

A house at Lake Macquarie has been destroyed by fire overnight. Fire and Rescue New South Wales were called to Jill Parade at Charlestown at around 12:30am, where they found the house well alight. It took three crews more than two hours to get the blaze under control. Fortunately no-one was inside at the time – neighbours say the tenants had moved out last week. THREE-YEAR-OLD SAVES FAMILY FROM BLAZE

A three-year-old has been hailed a hero after a fire that destroyed a Comboyne home early on Sunday morning. At around 12:30, the little boy alerted his parents and two siblings to the blaze, which had engulfed the Thone Street home. “The little boy of the family, he actually woke the whole family up so he’s the hero” Firefighters say it was a lucky escape, as the building gave way just moments after the family had left. Strong wind conditions meant the fire proved difficult to extinguish, and crews were still monitoring the property late this morning. Police are investigating the cause of the blaze. NORTH HAVEN HOUSE FIRE

A North Haven home has been completely destroyed by fire. Emergency services were called to Eames Avenue just before 6 o’clock on Tuesday morning. “When we arrived the house was well engulfed in fire and we quickly got to work to protect the exposures on both sides” The owners weren’t home at the time. A disabled man has been dragged from a burning house in Newcastle, after he was trapped in the residence by flames. Showing incredible bravery, several neighbours desperately tried to rescue the man, who was eventually carried to safety by fire fighters. Read More »

NEIGHBOUR SAVES MAN FROM BURNING HOME

There was a narrow escape for a 60-year-old man last night, when a neighbour pulled him from his burning home at Rathmines. Five fire crews were called to the blaze on Burnage Place at 3am to find the house well alight. The fire was contained a short time later but not before the roof collapsed.
