FORMER TOP COP APPEALS SENTENCE

Former Tweed top cop Shane Diehm may spend less time behind bars after his lawyers today appealed the sentence handed to him in September. Diehm was slapped with a six month sentence after being found guilty of lying to the New South Wales Police Integrity Commission, denying involvement in a drug-fuelled party weekend on the Gold Coast. His lawyers claim he’s been unfairly made a scapegoat, in an effort to discourage other authority figures from lying to the commission. The matter’s been adjourned until early next month. RODNEY EADE TO LEAD SUNS

Rodney Eade has been announced as the new coach of the Gold Coast Suns. It’s understood the former Sydney and Western Bulldogs mentor agreed to take up the position this afternoon. The 56-year-old will take over from Guy McKenna. In the 90s, Eade coached the Sydney Swans to a grand final and also led the Western Bulldogs to three-straight preliminary finals from 2008. He then moved to Collingwood and last year became their football director. Read More »
