MAN ATTEMPTS TO SET FIRE TO FUEL BOWSERS IN WAUCHOPE

Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to set fire to several fuel bowsers in Wauchope on Monday night. About midnight the man attempted to start a blaze at the High Street service station. Police believe he was intoxicated at the time. Police have released CCTV images of a man they’d like to speak to, in relation to a suspicious fire at Erina last year. The blaze caused extensive damage to seven businesses at a retail complex on Karalta Road on November 16. Fortunately no-one was injured. ELDERLY COUPLE INJURED IN HOUSE FIRE

An elderly couple has escaped with just minor injuries, following a house fire at South Tamworth. Police believe the pair was trying to start a log fire in their Warren Street home when the blaze started at around 6pm. Fire crews arrived a short time later to find the house well alight. They managed to rescue the couple from inside the home, before they were taken to hospital with minor burns. Read More »

LUCKY ESCAPE FOR TRUCK DRIVER

A truck driver had a lucky escape on Wednesday night, after the wheels on the heavy vehicle he was driving caught alight on the Oxley Highway. The 38-year-old Hurstville man was driving east at around 6-o’clock, when he saw smoke coming from his back tyres. He was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation. A house on The Entrance Road and a nearby mini golf course have been badly damaged, following suspicious fires at Forresters Beach overnight. Emergency services were called to the fires on the same road at about 8.40, but couldn’t save the properties. Two people and their animals managed to escape the blaze unharmed. LUCKY ESCAPE FOR TRUCK DRIVER

A truck driver has had a lucky escape, after his b-double burst into flames north of Coffs Harbour. He was traveling along the Pacific Highway at Halfway Creek at around 1am, when a fellow truck driver noticed smoke and radioed the man to pull over. Within minutes, the rig was engulfed in flames. A local resident says he was woken to the sounds of tyres exploding. It’s believed a wheel bearing siezed and sparked the fire. Read More »

LUCKY ESCAPE FROM CAR FIRE

There was a lucky escape for six people near Taree this morning, after the car they were travelling in was engulfed by flames. Members of the group – including a 16-year-old boy – were on their way to Armidale for a charity bike ride, when they saw flames at the back of the Mercedes four-wheel drive. They pulled over on the Bucketts Way, and thankfully escaped uninjured… but the same can’t be said for the vehicle and its trailer. Read More »
