POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH AT MAYFIELD

Police are appealing for witnesses, following the death of a 71-year-old man in a Mayfield home. Just before 2pm yesterday, emergency services were called to Kerr Street, where they found the man with a gunshot wound to his chest. The crime scene has been examined by forensic officers, but anyone who was in the area or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Newcastle police. Read More »

SHOTS FIRED INTO WALLSEND HOME

Police are appealing for information, after shots were fired into a Wallsend home early this morning. Police say a number of bullets were shot into the Youll Street house just after one o’clock, before a car was heard leaving the area. No-one was injured. TWO CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENCES

A man and a woman from Holmesville have been charged with domestic violence offences, after allegedly failing to provide health care to an elderly man. Following a report to the Elder Abuse Hotline, police and medical professionals went to a home in George Street in December last year. They found an 80-year-old man to be underweight and undernourished. He also hadn’t received treatment for diabetes and prostate cancer since January 2014. A 46-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were charged this week, and will face Toronto Local Court on March 25. The elderly man is now caring for himself with the assistance of aged care services. CCTV IMAGES RELEASED OF ARMED ROBBERY

Police have released CCTV images in a bid to find those responsible for an armed robbery in Port Stephens earlier this year. On Januray 29, a man weilding an axe entered a bottle shop on Cook Parade at Lemon Tree Passage. He dragged the 34-year-old employee by her arm into the office and demanded money from the safe. A second man, armed with a knife, then forced her to open the cash register. Both fled on foot. Anyone with information should contact Port Stephens police. Read More »

Thieves have smashed through brick walls inside a Coomera shopping complex, cutting apart an ATM and escaping with thousands of dollars cash. It’s believed the gang was hammering and grinding for hours, just 100 metres away from the local police station. Read More »

FATAL STABBING IN CESSNOCK

A 48-year-old man has died after being stabbed at Cessnock this morning. Police were called to a home on Edgeworth Street at around 1am, where they found the man with a number of wounds. Officers started CPR, but he died at the scene. Police say a short time later, a car lost control and rolled into the crime scene they’d established. They found a 50-year-old man with multiple wounds. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition. Police believe the two incidents are linked. Read More »

CENTRAL COAST MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 21-year-old Central Coast man has today been charged with murdering a man whose body was found in bushland near Bulahdelah last year. 24-year-old Jacob Munro was reported missing from Schofields in Sydney’s west last July. His body was discovered by police in a bush grave in the Bulahdelah State Forest in December. Just after 7am today, detectives attched to Strike Force Zion arrested the man at his Lake Munmorah home and later charged hime with murder. A 68-year-old man from the New England region has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact. He’ll face Penrith Local Court next week. Read More »

MAN CHARGED OVER ASSAULT OF TEENAGER

A 22-year-old man has been charged with indecent assault and the attempted sexual assault of a teenager on the mid north coast. Strike Force Mediata was formed after two 16-year-old girls and a 15-year-old girl were allegedly sexually assaulted at an address in Woolgoolga on February 5. Police say the man befriended the girls on social media. “Our inquiries have identified contact being made with girls via Facebook and we do believe there was some alcohol involved prior to the committing of these offences,” said Detective Inspector Darren Jameson. “Any young people who feel they are being inappropriately spoken to on social media should contact police,” he said. Police have identified another two men involved who have since left the country, and have also charged a 24-year-old man with being an accessory after the fact. Read More »
