SCHOOL BUS SAFETY IN THE SPOTLIGHT AFTER CRASH

UPDATED: There are renewed calls for seatbelts on school buses, after two buses crashed at Maclean on the north coast this morning. Police say one bus slammed into the back of the other, after it slowed for a turning car on the morning school run. A total of 29 children were onboard the buses – eight were treated by paramedics at the scene, and a 10-year-old girl was taken to Maclean Hospital for suspected spinal injuries. PLANE CRASH CLAIMS FOUR LIVES

Four people are dead and two others are seriously injured following a light-plane crash at Moree. A man, woman and two others were found dead inside the Cessna wreckage after is crashed in a paddock on Blueberry Road near the Moree airport shortly after 8pm tonight. The Cessna had flown from Brewarrina with six people onbaord. A 12-year-old girl and a 40-year-old man were freed from the light-plane and taken to Moree Hospital with serious injuries. Police have established a crime scene and forensic specialists are on their way from Inverell. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau have been notified and will begin investigations into the cause of the crash in the morning. Read More »

HIGHWAY JOURNEY ENDS IN FLAMES

A truck driver’s long journey North ended in flames at Chinderah this morning. He was travelling along the Pacific Highway when one of his wheels caught alight – the fire quick to rip through his rig. Read More »
