MAN CRITICAL FOLLOWING NORTH COAST CRASH

A man is in a critical but stable condition in John Hunter Hospital, following a crash near Macksville late yesterday afternoon. The 19-year-old was driving along Taylors Arm road at Upper Taylors Arm when he lost control on a bend and ran into trees. He was thrown from the vehicle, while the car flipped and landed on top of him. Emergency services managed to free the man about an hour later and he was airlifted to hospital. He suffered multiple injuries including a fractured arm, a punctured sternum, burns and head injuries. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them. Read More »

LUCKY ESCAPE FOR MATES ON DARWIN FISHING TRIP

Five mates are lucky to be alive following a fishing trawler crash north-west of Darwin yesterday. The men, including two from Newcastle, were heading out on a three week fishing trip in the Kimberlys in Western Australia. Just two hours into their trip, they were hit by a fishing trawler – the chain from the net slicing through their cabin. CAR COLLIDES WITH PEDESTRIAN AT MERMAID BEACH

Witnesses watched in horror this morning as a woman was thrown across the street, after being hit by a car at Mermaid Beach. The 35 year old was crossing at the lights, when the female driver accidentally hit her. “Suddenly I heard a bang. Then when I looked I just saw the girl lying over there having like a seizure or something.” The woman suffered head injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition. When a blast echoed through Oxenford this morning, Movie World neighbours thought it was the daily Stunt Show until they wandered outside to find this. The Ute brought down power lines, sparking a bushfire on Kopps Road, and cutting power to more than 2000 homes. “I heard the bang I thought what’s that?” “it just sounded like a bomb going off” “but he’s very lucky cause the powerlines are hanging there’s a tree actually stopping it coming down further” The 26 year old driver ran from the blaze, despite suffering a neck injury. Three people have been taken to John Hunter Hospital, following a crash on the Central Coast at Wyee this morning. Nine people were travelling in a Hyundai Ace mini van on Hue Hue Road, when it careered off the road and hit three trees at about 7.30.
