STOLEN CAR CRASHED IN LAKE MACQUARIE

Two teenagers have been charged after allegedly stealing a car and crashing it at Lake Macquarie. A Nissan Tiida sedan was reported stolen from a property at Eleebana last weekend. Police say the car was seen at a petrol station at Belmont at around 11pm yesterday, before it crashed into a vehicle along the Pacific Highway at Blacksmiths. A 17-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy allegedly ran from the scene. Witnesses managed to detain one boy until police arrived, while the other was tracked down by a police dog. NORTH COAST CRASH CLAIMS ANOTHER LIFE

A teenage girl has lost her life, a week after she was involved in car crash north of Uki on the New South Wales north coast. The 15-year-old’s mother, a 45-year-old woman from Mount Gravatt, was also killed in the crash last Thursday afternoon. The pair was travelling in a Mazda Astina along Kyogle Road just before 1pm, when they collided head-on with a Suzuki SX4. The female driver of the Suzuki and four children were taken to hospital, but have since been released. Read More »

MAN CHARGED AFTER CAR CRASHES INTO HOME

A 23-year-old man has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug and high range drink driving, after he allegedly crashed a car into a house at The Entrance. Emergency services were called to Warringal Street just before eight o’clock last night, where they found a Holden Commodore in the front room of a home. Police say the driver ran from the scene, but was arrested a short time later. He was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he allegedly returned a positive breath test of 0.160. LUCKY ESCAPE FOR TRUCK DRIVER

A 24-year-old woman has had a lucky escape, after she lost control of a small tipper truck and crashed into a tree at Bob’s Farm. Emergency services were called to Nelson Bay Road just before midday. The woman escaped with minor injuries, but was taken to John Hunter Hospital for observation. Traffic was brought to a standstill, while fire crews removed gravel from the road. WOMAN DEAD & SIX OTHERS INJURED IN NORTH COAST CRASH

A woman has died and six others are injured following a head-on car crash on the North Coast. Just before 1pm, a Suzuki SX4 and a Mazda Astina collided along Kyogle Road, about 5-kilometres north of Uki. Emergency services were called, but the female driver of the Mazda died at the scene. Her female passenger was airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition, while the driver of the Suzuki was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital. Four children aged between three and 15, who were passengers in the Suzuki, were taken to hospital with various injuries. Anyone with information is urged to contact police. Read More »

TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN HIGHWAY CRASH

There’s been a tragic end to 2014, with two people killed in a car crash north of Taree. The man and woman were travelling north along the Pacific Highway at Moorland just before 2pm, when their car left the road, hit a barrier and rolled down an embankment. Police say fatigue may have been a factor in the crash. Motorists have been warned to expect delays, with one northbound lane closed. Read More »
