“WE THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD” WITNESSES TELL OF SURFERS BASHING

Tourists who saw a shocking bashing in Surfers Paradise, thought the victim was dead, after he was left lying on a road. The 45-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face outside a hotel on Palm Avenue around 11 o’clock last night. Police say he’d been arguing with another man inside Mantra Crown Towers before the attack. “There were loads of people crowded around him and then they rang an ambulance, ambulance turned up, it took them ages to get him on the stretcher.” “We thought he was dead.” A 37-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with grevious bodily harm, and will face Southport Court tomorrow. TOSTEE IN TROUBLE FOR POLICE ASSAULT, DUI

A Surfers Paradise man accused of murdering a New Zealand tourist has had other matters heard in Southport Court, that are unrelated to the balcony fall death, earlier this month. Gable Tostee is facing four separate charges stemming from incidents in January and July – they include assault or obstruct police and driving under the influence of liquor. His lawyer told the court he was recently charged with another ‘significant matter’, and is now in custody for that. Tostee will apply for bail in the Supreme Court on September eight. Read More »

CARVEN ESCAPES COURT AFTER MURBAH CAR RAMPAGE

A man who drove at police with his car on a quiet Murwillumbah street in May, has avoided serving any time behind bars. Matthew Eric Carven’s rampage began after police tried to pull him over for doing burnouts. The confrontation left five officers injured. DANGEROUS DRIVING P-PLATER’S LICENSE REINSTATED

A P-plater… who allegedly forced police to jump for their lives.. had just been given his licence back. Police claim- while trying to escape officers- 23 year old Luke Charlton ploughed into this taxi, injuring its driver and elderly passengers. The defendant claims he freaked out when he saw four men approach his car, fearing they meant to harm him. “when he got scared or spooked by four large individuals who happened to be police officers he drove off” He surrendered to police the next day, but with a prior conviction for dangerous driving, was refused bail and remanded in custody. MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY THREATENING MOTHER WITH AIR RIFLE

A 26-year-old man will appear in court after allegedly threatening his mother and her partner with an air rifle and knives in their Muswellbrook home. At about 3:30 yesterday morning, it’s alleged the man went to the Foley Street home and pointed the air rifle at the pair, before threatening the 52-year-old man with knives. He’s been charged with 12 domestic violence and firearm offences. No one was injured in the incident. Read More »

BALLINA BIKIE GETS TWO MONTHS JAIL

An alleged Ballina Rebels’ bikie, accused of a cross border drug trafficking racket has faced Southport Court, after breaching bail conditions. Police say Jamie Lee Adams from Byron Bay tested positive to methamphetamine last week, during a parole check. The 32-year-old’s lawyer says her client was trying to lead a drug-free life, but relapsed after a night with old friends. The court was also told Adams was caught drug driving in February, while on a probation order. He was sentenced to two months prison. Read More »

Last month, Marie Jennings was found with a commercial quantity of marijuana in her home… as well as more than 16-hundred dollars cash. Today, the 65 year old admitted to her crimes..
