TRUCK CRASHES NEAR COFFS HARBOUR

A truck has crashed near an industrial estate not far from Coffs Harbour over night. Around 6.30, police and ambulance officers were called to Isles Drive in North Boambee Valley. It’s believed the Kenworth B double, which was carrying empty beer kegs, mounted the gutter causing the rig to tip. The 38 year old male driver escaped with minor injuries. Investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident. Read More »

TEACHER CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY RECRUITING CHILDREN FOR CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

A 59-year-old male teacher has been charged for allegedly recruiting children for criminal activity in Coffs Harbour. Police executed a search warrant on homes and a school office earlier in the week, where a number of items were seized. Three underage girls believed to be involved, were also interviewed at Coffs Harbour Police Station. The man’s charges include causing malicious damage and supplying a minor with alcohol. He will reappear in Coffs Harbour Local Court next month. Read More »

THREE MEN FORCE THEIR WAY INTO A COFFS CLUB

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Coffs Harbour overnight where three men forced their way into a club and fled with cash. At about 9.30 a female employee had just finished work at the club on Jordan Esplanade before three men threatened her with a knife and forced her to open the doors of the club where another worker was closing up. The employees were forced into an office before the men stole cash and fled the premises. The men are all described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance aged in their 20s. COFFS HARBOUR AFL COACH CHARGED WITH GROOMING BOY ONLINE

An Australian Rules coach has been suspended by the AFL after allegedly grooming a 13-year-old boy online. The 42-year-old from Coffs Harbour was arrested after police raided his home yesterday. There, they seized a computer, a mobile phone and electronic storage devices. Police allege the man engaged in sexually explicit discussions with a detective who was pretending to be the boy. The AFL says the man has been stood down pending the outcome of court proceedings. “We are shocked and appalled by the allegations,” a spokesman said. FLOOD CARNAGE AT COFFS HARBOUR

Houses, cars, crops and small communities were all in the firing line during relentless rains and punishing winds which lashed the mid north coast late yesterday afternoon. The community of Bellingen has once again found itself in isolation, as roads and bridges leading into the township remain covered with water. The SES is desperately trying to clean up the countless fallen trees, which have caused substantial damage to homes and vehicles, and blocked roadways. A 23 year old women was lucky to escape injury yesterday afternoon, when a 100ft eucalyptus tree fell on her family home, right above her bedroom.
