DOCTOR CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING PATIENTS

A 60-year-old doctor has been charged with the sexual assault of two patients on the state’s north coast. It follows the alleged sexual assault of a 60-year-old patient in January last year at the Coffs Harbour clinic, as well as an alleged assault on a 20-year-old woman earlier this week. The man was arrested yesterday, charged with four counts of sexual assault and refused bail to reappear in Coffs Harbour Local Court in June. Read More »

BODY FOUND IN COFFS CREEK

Police are tonight no closer to understanding what happened to a 19-year-old man found dead in Coffs Creek. They recovered the body around 4pm yesterday, after his partner reported him missing on Monday morning. “We can’t rule out anything at this stage, our investigations are ongoing and one of those issues will be looking at whether the death is suspicious or not, it’s just too early to say at this stage.” Det Insp Darren Jameson. MOTORCYCLIST DIES IN PACIFIC HIGHWAY CRASH

A motorcyclist has died in a two vehicle collision north of Coffs Harbour. The accident occurred at around 3.40 this afternoon, when the motorcyclist hit an oncoming Holden Commodore on the Pacific Highway one-kilometre north of Korora. The man on the motorcycle, aged in his 50s, was thrown from the bike, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Holden, a 42-year-old man, was not injured in the collision and was taken to Coffs Harbour Medical Campus for mandatory blood and urine tests. Significant delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area, with northbound lanes near Seaview Close diverted into an alternative lane. Read More »

SURFERS TESTED IN EXTREME CONDITIONS AT KIRRA

Big swells and strong currents didn’t stop surfers from across the country hitting the waves in the 30th Kirra Teams Challenge. “Got some of the best surfers in Australia really going hard and they’re surfing for their club, for their mates and there’s been some brilliant efforts. It’s a real test of strength, endurance and skill.” Newcastle’s Merewether team took the outright victory after racking up six wins and two second places throughout the competition. POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police in Coffs Harbour are investigating the attempted sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman last night. The woman was walking along Arthur Street at about 8pm, when a man grabbed her from behind. The man threatened the woman before dragging her into nearby bushland and attempting to sexually assault her. She managed to break free, and was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. MAN CHARGED OVER ENGLISH BACKPACKER ASSAULT

A 19-year-old man, thought to be a rugby league player, has been charged over the weekend assault on an English backpacker in Coffs Harbour. Police allege the 29-year-old was knocked unconscious after being headbutted and punched, just before midnight last Saturday. The backpacker has since been released from hospital. The 19-year-old was arrested yesterday – he’s been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, and has been granted bail. He’s due to face court next month. Read More »

BACKPACKER LEFT UNCONSCIOUS AFTER ASSAULT

A 29-year-old English backpacker was left unconscious after being assaulted outside a hotel in Coffs Harbour on the weekend. Police were told a 19-year-old man approached the backpacker at the corner of Grafton and West High Streets, and allegedly head butted him from behind. He was then allegedly punched twice and knocked to the ground. The Englishman was taken to hospital in a stable condition. It’s believed the man did not know his attacker. Read More »
