CONSUMERS UNKNOWINGLY SOLD ILLICIT DRUGS

Police believe people on the Central Coast may have bought so-called ‘party pills’ from an Erina store, without knowing they contained illicit substances. It’s alleged hundreds of tablets containing the prohibited drug D.M.A.A have been seized from the ‘Off Ya Tree’ shop at Erina Fair. The tablets were marketed as party pills, with the brand names of ‘GO-E’, ‘XS’ and ‘Pure Bliss’. The shop is helping police with their inquiries, no charges have been laid. Read More »

CENTRAL COAST MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 21-year-old Central Coast man has today been charged with murdering a man whose body was found in bushland near Bulahdelah last year. 24-year-old Jacob Munro was reported missing from Schofields in Sydney’s west last July. His body was discovered by police in a bush grave in the Bulahdelah State Forest in December. Just after 7am today, detectives attched to Strike Force Zion arrested the man at his Lake Munmorah home and later charged hime with murder. A 68-year-old man from the New England region has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact. He’ll face Penrith Local Court next week. Read More »

MAN CHARGED WITH DRUG AND FIREARM OFFENCES

A 53-year-old man has been charged with a string of drug and firearm offences, following a six-month investigation by Central Coast police. Strike Force Shadowboxer was formed in August last year to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Brisbane Water command. Yesterday detectives stopped a car at Point Frederick, near East Gosford, and arrested the man. A search warrant was also executed at his Davistown home, where officers allegedly seized cannabis, crystal methyl-amphetamine and two unregistered firemarms. He’s been granted conditional bail and will face Gosford Local Court on March 10. Read More »

CENTRAL COAST GPs SHINE LIGHT ON REGION’S HEALTH CARE

Central Coast doctors had an opportunity to speak out about the region’s health care today, during a roundtable discussion on the future of Medicare. Erina GP, Peter Carr, says it was a good opportunity to discuss local issues. The talks are part of the federal government’s consultation process surrounding proposed Medicare reforms. Meantime the region’s doctor shortages are set to be eased, with the federal government extending its District of Workforce Shortage system to the seat of Robertson. The changes mean GPs in suburbs like Avoca Beach, Terrigal and Kincumber will find it easier to recruit doctors locally. (AUDIO IN PARTS) Read More »

MAN DIES AFTER BEING PULLED FROM WATER

A 26 year-old man has died after being pulled unconscious from the water at Avoca Beach on the Central Coast. Police say the man had entered the water at 1pm, roughly 500-metres away from the patrolled area, and quickly became caught in a rip. Lifeguards spotted the man in distress, and brought him back to the beach, performing CPR until paramedics arrived. He was taken to Gosford Hospital, but later died. (VISION ONLY) Read More »

MAN TO FACE COURT ON ASSAULT CHARGES

A 20-year-old man will face court next month, after he allegedly bit a Central Coast police officer. Police say an officer was assualted while trying to arrest the man, who’s wanted on a warrant, at the Gosford Railway Station yesterday afternoon. It’s also alleged he continued to be aggressive towards police at Gosford Police Station, injuring one officer’s hand and another’s back. The man is charged with a string of offences including two counts of assaulting police occasioning actual bodily harm and resisting arrest. Read More »

MAN AND WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WOY WOY CRASH

A man and a woman suffered serious head injuries in a car crash at Woy Woy last night. Police say the driver of the Hyundai lost control of the vehicle on Woy Woy Road just before 11pm, crossing to the opposite side of the road and colliding with a four wheel drive. A 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in the Hyundai were trapped for a short time before being released. The man was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, while the woman was taken to Gosford Hospital. The 54-year-old driver of the four wheel drive escaped uninjured. Read More »
