NEWCASTLE BEACHES CLOSED FOR MOST OF DAY AFTER SHARK SIGHTING

Beaches between Stockton and Redhead were closed for most of today, after a shark was again spotted in the area. It was first seen just metres offshore at Merewether yesterday. Lifesavers sighted the shark again just after midday, at the northern end of Nobbys Beach. Newcastle Beach was deemed safe to re-open late this afternoon, while the remaining beaches will be re-evaluated before patrols begin tomorrow morning. (VISION ONLY) Read More »

Another dead whale has been found on the mid north coast. The carcass of the whale was washed onto a rock shelf at Walllabi Point near Old Bar. The male humpback is the second whale to wash ashore, after one was discovered at Old Bar yesterday. Read More »

HUMAN REMAINS FOUND ON PEARL BEACH

Human remains have been found by a walker off Pearl Beach on the Central Coast. The man was walking his dog at about 3.30pm yesterday when he located the remains. While formal identification is yet to be completed, it’s believed they may belong to a missing five year old boy who was swept off the beach at the beginning of the month.   Read More »
