The Newcastle Jets say it’s unlikely Joel Griffiths’s international transfer clearance will come through in time for Saturday’s clash with Western Sydney. Griffiths is pursuing legal action against his former Chinese club because they couldn’t pay the final year of his deal. The club subsequently refused to release the striker. But the Jets remain confident of getting their man, and today confirmed the close of the transfer window on February 5 won’t prevent that either, because his application has already been submitted.
