Two of the Hunter’s top basketballers have done plenty to impress Australian coach Brendan Joyce, during a training camp on the Central Coast. Katie Ebzery is now eyeing off a place in the Opals squad for a European tour, as well as the Olympic qualifiers against New Zealand in August. “I just have to keep putting in the work and performing at camp and hopefully I get a call up.” Having recently won the WNBL title, Suzy Batkovic is working towards her fourth Olympic Games. “Coming off a big win like that, third time lucky in Townsville, putting green and gold after having a couple of years break from it with a back injury it’s been really good.” Read More »

Newcastle/Hunter’s game plan at the New South Wales Country Rugby Championships was to play an expansive game, with speed out wide, but conditions at Bowral didn’t help the cause. Instead, the wet weather played into the hands of the local Illawarra rep side, and its big forward pack. WYONG SES FINISHES STORM JOBS

Two weeks after the Central Coast storm first hit, Wyong SES has completed all of its jobs. Over the course of the event, almost 2,500 calls for help were made. “Some of our people worked the whole two weeks. It’s been an absolute amazing effort.
