JAIL SENTENCE DOUBLED FOR DISQUALIFIED DRIVER WHO KILLED THREE

A disqualified driver who killed a father and his two children near Casino in 2013 has had his sentence almost doubled on appeal. Malcolm Joseph Harris was originally sentenced to a non-parole period of three years and three months, but in the court of appeal it was extended to five years. Harris was charged with three counts of driving occasioning death, after he crashed into a parked car, killing Shaun Zagar, and his two children Kaleb and Zara. The family of the victims has spent the last year and a half petitioning for a harsher sentence. Read More »

We are in for a beaming week of sunshine. Today has been very warm and it will be even warmer in northern New South Wales and south east Queensland tomorrow. As we move through the week, the only difference will be a drop in temperature. Cool to cold, dry south westerly winds will be with us for some time including this weekend as the sunshine rolls on. INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE INTO SUSPICIOUS FIRE

Police have released CCTV images of a man they’d like to speak to, in relation to a suspicious fire at Erina last year. The blaze caused extensive damage to seven businesses at a retail complex on Karalta Road on November 16. Fortunately no-one was injured. The man is described as Caucasian in appearance with a medium build. Read More »

ALLEGED MURDERER TO FACE COURT IN JUNE

A 25-year-old man, accused of murdering his father in Murwillumbah, has had his case adjourned until June. 46-year-old Michael Anthony Martin died at his unit on Quarry Road on June 13 last year. His son, Michael Martin Junior, was charged with his murder in March. He also faces charges relating to another home invasion in April 2014, which left his father seriously injured. Read More »

HEARING DATE SET FOR ALLEGED DOG MURDERER

A hearing date has been set for an accused dog killer from Bexhill, Miles Ross Davidson. Appearing in Lismore court today, Davidson is alleged to have suffocated a one-year-old whippet staffy cross, in January. Pleading not-guilty, Davidson is facing one count of committing an aggravated act of cruelty. Local animal rights groups are calling for the maximum sentence of two year’s prison if found guilty.
