TAMWORTH BRACING FOR STATES BEST

More than 30 of the state’s best junior water polo teams will be in Tamworth from tomorrow, competing for the under 14s New South Wales titles. There’s 20 in contention for the boys championships, while 16 teams will take on the local girls. CARTER AND RYAN TO APPEAR IN ROUND ONE

The North West will be represented in this weekend’s first round of Super Rugby, after Sam Carter and Paddy Ryan were both named for their teams. Carter, a Quirindi junior, will start in the second row for the ACT Brumbies against Queensland tomorrow. He’s hoping to cement his spot in the Wallabies squad for the World Cup. EELS STILL HOPEFUL OF PLAYING IN 2015

Despite fellow Group 19 clubs blocking the move, the Narwan Eels are still confident of returning to the rugby league field this year. Country Rugby League has informed Narwan officials they have grounds for an appeal after the club alleged competition organisers didn’t thoroughly consider their application two weeks ago.
