Merewether surfer Ryan Callinan has got his campaign at the Oakley Lower Pro in California off to a great start, beating 11-time world champion Kelly Slater in round one. Callinan took out his heat with a two-wave total of 13.97, with Slater close behind on 13.74. Both have progressed to round two.
