TWO CHARGED AFTER ARMED HOLD UP

Two teenagers have been charged and another man is on the run, following an attempted armed robbery at Cardiff last night. Three men, armed with a knife and sledgehammer, entered the Iron Horse hotel on Main Road just before midnight and allegedly threatened an employee. The group was unable to get cash from the safe and fled when police arrived. An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were arrested a short time later and charged with intent to rob while armed with an offensive weapon. They’ll face Toronto Local Court today. Read More »

The storm clean-up continues across the Hunter, with council workers across the Hunter to be kept busy for months to come. The SES has attended more than 8,000 jobs across the region – just 390 remain. At Rankin Park over the weekend, a team of workers and two cranes removed an enormous tree which had destroyed a recently-renovated house.
