Taree’s Alex Cudlin is on his way to the Middle East for the second last round of the Qatar Superbike Championship. The 28-year-old has moved within 15-points of the lead, after falling 60-points behind when a mechanical problem led him to miss two-races earlier this year. Cudlin has won the championship a record four-times and is the defending title holder. A local rider is currently in first pace, but Alex is confident he can snatch the win. COFFS RUNNER WINS HAWAII MARATHON

Coffs Harbour runner Leah Fitzgerald has taken out the Big Island International Women’s Marathon in Hawaii in record time. The 32 year old mother of three finished the 42 kilometre run in 3 hours, 5 minutes, and 53 seconds, just outside her personal best. Her proud father says the win is a career highlight for his daughter. “I think it’s absolutely fantastic, I think she’s worked very hard for it, she’s done quite well and to go over there and achieve that is phenomenal,” said Leo Hoskins. The Group Three Pre-season Finals will be played in Old Bar this Sunday and the shield could be anyone’s, with a number of teams getting off to a strong start last week. Still in contention for top honours are the Taree Bulls, Port Macquarie Sharks, Wingham Tigers and Port City Breakers. Taree will take on the Breakers in the semis, while Wingham play the Sharks.
