There’s been a major upset at the World Surfing Tour event on the Gold Coast, with Brazilian rookie Italo Ferreira eliminating 11-time world champion Kelly Slater. The first heat of round three got underway in small waves at Snapper Rocks this morning. The 20-year-old blitzed his competition, posting a combined score of 13.00, depsite only catching four waves. Slater managed a score of 8.77. Meanwhile Central Coast surfer Matt Wilkinson and Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting will also compete in round three today. Read More »
