RSPCA CALLS FOR HELP AFTER ATTACK ON PUP

The RSPCA is calling on the community to help find the person responsible for another sickening attack on a puppy in the Hunter. A male staffy-cross is in a critical condition, after being found with head injuries and multiple fractures, in national parkland at Cessnock. The RSPCA says a concerned member of the public called last night after seeing the dog, believed to be between one and two years old, by the side of the road. Wet weather hampered search efforts last night, but the pup was located this morning, and taken to the RSPCA’s Rutherford facility. It follows the brutal bashing deaths of a litter of unwanted puppies in the area last month. Read More »

WEATHER WATCH: TAKE CARE AS WILD WEATHER BATTERS THE COAST

An intense east coast low is forming off the New South Wales Mid North Coast and will unleash the majority of its energy between the Central Coast and Manning, with the Hunter taking the biggest hit. A severe weather warning has been issued and flooding is expected on the Paterson and Williams Rivers. Localised flash flooding is also likely, while huge dangerous swell will develop with gale force winds reaching 100km/h along the Newcastle coast. The low is expected to retrogress or move back towards the coast which will intensify conditions. The wild weather will ease on Wednesday. Take care. Read More »

POLICE SEARCH HOME OF ESTRANGED HUSBAND

Police are searching the home of John Edwards, the estranged husband of missing Grafton teacher Sharon Edwards. Forensic Services Group, a cadaver dog and officers are on site, and have removed some electronic equipment from the house. A separate search is being conducted at Mrs Edwards’ home in Grafton. It’s part of the ongoing Strike Force Burrow homicide investigation. Mr Edwards appeared in Grafton Local Court this morning, on six unrelated firearm charges. Read More »

TRIBUTES, FOR A YOUNG RUGBY PLAYER FATALLY INJURED DURING MATCH

A 25-year-old rugby union player has died in John Hunter Hospital, after a head clash during a match in the New South Wales north west on Saturday. Nick Tooth was airlifted to Newcastle, after he collapsed during the first grade game between Quirindi and Narrabri. Tributes for the Quirindi local have poured in, with his club saying “the loss of this kind hearted and fine young man will be felt far and wide. The club would like to offer their support to everyone who has been touched by this tragic loss”. Club president, Charles Murray says it was a sad accident. Read More »

Heroes and villians took over Broadbeach this morning for the Supanova Cosplay Parade. Hundreds dressed up as their favourite character.
