Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes remains in an induced coma, more than 24 hours after a sickening blow to the head. Family and fellow players have been visiting St Vincents to support the 25-year-old. The Defence Minister has spent the day defending comments he made about an Australian navy shipbuilder, saying he wouldn’t trust it to build a canoe. And Protestors were met with fierce resistance today in Ferguson Missouri, as they returned to the streets to express anger, after a white police officer escaped charges for killing a black teenager. - Cricketer Phillip Hughes remains in an induced coma, following brain surgery after he was hit in the head by a cricket ball yesterday. – People in the US town of Ferguson Missouri have destroyed parts of their own community in protest at a police officer being cleared of the shooting death of a teenager. – And a group of friends in the UK has sent a lamb chop into the stratosphere, attached to a balloon with a small camera. A trip to the washing line has proved almost deadly for a mother of six who was swallowed by a 3 metre sink hole in Melbourne. Police say he lunged at them with a knife at Southport. – And scientists in the US have recorded the first known video of a deep sea fish known as a Black Sea Devil, known for the light bulb growth on its head. A mother has been charged with attempted murder, after her baby boy was found in a storm drain in Sydney’s west. Incredibly, he survived for five days before being rescued. More than 400 ABC employees will lose their jobs, as a result of $254 million in cuts to the broadcaster’s funding. Regional radio has been hit hard, with nine positions axed in Newcastle. The 69 year old was suffering acute abdominal pain. – And more thunderstorms are forecast following last night’s spectacular light show over Newcastle and the Hunter.
