The families of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran have endured a chaotic final journey to visit the condemned men, where they’re saying their last goodbyes. The full extent of the destruction in Nepal has become clearer, with the death toll now edging close to four and a half thousand. A Central Coast father has been charged with high range drink driving, after allegedly being found six times over the limit, with his 5-year-old daughter in the car. And an unikely tourist visited the Sydney Opera House this morning, a seal who comes and goes from the spot was seen sub-baking on the steps of the iconic venue.   Read More »

Ausgrid says it’s still working to get power back to about 13,000 homes affected by the storms, including 9,500 in the Hunter. Incredible vision has emerged revealing the true extent of the devastation in Kathmandu, after the massive earthquake that rocked Nepal. These drone pictures show centuries-old temples and memorials flattened, while homes and businesses have been left in ruins. More the four thousand people have died. The Australian government is providing seats on military planes to help Australians get home safely. The Bali Nine duo is expected to face the firing squad tonight. Our foreign minister Julie Bishop received a letter from her Indonesian counterpart last night saying Indonesia will execute the two convicted drug smugglers. And a state of emergency has been declared in the US city of Baltimore after riots broke out, followed the funeral of 25 year old Freddie Gray, an African American man who died in police custody. Meanwhile an Australian woman killed when an avalanche hit Everest base camp has been named as 49 year-old Renu Fotedar. Tony Abbott has unveiled plans for a $100 million interactive war museum to immortalise the stories of Anzacs fighting on the Western Front. A special investigation has revealed the high rate of violence faced by frontline Centrelink staff – with duress alarms pressed more than 1000 times within 12 months.
