An elderly couple has been rescued from a South Tamworth housefire. It’s believed a mishap with an open fire place ignited a larger fire which has destroyed the Warren Street house. The couple suffered minor burns. We’ll find out this afternoon if the reserve bank will cut the official interest rate to a record low of two percent. And there’s been a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London as a tribute to the newborn Princess of Cambridge – little Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.   Read More »

A Hunter man who brutally killed nine puppies is being sentenced in Newcastle Local Court today. 25-year-old Nathan Thompson bashed the animals over the head with a rock on March 11 and dumped them in bushland at Kurri Kurri. The Australian Federal Police has defended its actions over the Bali Nine, saying the arrests were not a result of a parent’s tip-off, and officers would have arrested the group before leaving Australia if there was sufficient evidence. A 101-year-old man has been rescued from the rubble in Nepal – SEVEN days after the powerful earthquake tore the nation apart. And the newest resident of Kensington Palace has had some special visitors overnight.
