NEWCASTLE’S WORLD RECORD OFFICIAL

It’s official, Newcastle has a new claim to surfing fame.

The Guinness World Records has now officially listed the city as holding the record for the longest line of surfboards.

It comes after its attempt on February 15, which saw 608 boards lined up, stretching 1.2-kilometres along Nobbys Beach.

It smashed the previous record of 398, set by Onkaparinga in South Australia in 2013.
