WOMAN DIES AFTER BEING SWEPT OFF ROCKS

A 39-year-old woman from Sydney has died, after being swept off rocks at Frazer Park, south of Newcastle over the weekend.

The woman was fishing with a man at around 7:30pm on Saturday, when she was washed into the ocean.

Her friend jumped in after her, but was unable to bring her to safety.

A police officer, attached to the Drug and Anti-Theft unit, managed to keep the pair afloat for 40-minutes until more help arrived.

The woman was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, but died yesterday.
