WEATHER: FLOODING RAIN FOR SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND

South east Queensland has copped a deluge, causing flooding and rock slides. The beaches have been closed and there is more to come over night.

Across the border, rain totals have also been high for the Northern Rivers, causing flooding.

The intense rain system will begin to weaken early tomorrow and conditions will ease, but the damage will be done.

Cloud has spread affecting most of the broadcast region with showers falling as far south as the Upper Hunter and Tamworth.

Most of the Australia Day long weekend is looking okay for most – cloud with only small scattered showers about for Saturday and Sunday.

Increased rain and storms will begin to move back in on Monday.
